Drool over these wedding venues
Who doesn’t love a wedding? The chance to drink too much champagne, dance like no one is watching, and eat more than one plate of cake - it’s a dream come true. And of course, to see two people who are madly in love celebrate their commitment to one another.
In the spirit of wedding season (which seems to be all year round now) we thought it was about time we compiled a list of our favourite wedding venues in NSW, and beyond.
In our humble opinion, the more obscure, and the more unknown - the better! Whether you’re looking for a whimsical Italian country villa in Western Sydney or a Jay Gatsby-style soiree in Bowral - there’s something for everyone in our guide. Yep, you guessed it - we are total suckers for love!
Nestled amongst rolling hills and elegant European Gardens, Palladio brings an air of whimsical luxury and the beauty of an Italian country villa to the relaxed Australian terrain. The property has been built on the basis of Palladian architecture which is the use of classical elements from ancient Roman and Greek architecture. While only 44 mins from the CBD of Sydney, the 33 acres of manicured gardens will transport your guests to a land far, far away.
Bebeah Farm is located on the Central Coast and is for those dreaming of escaping the city life and getting married in the wide-open space and fresh air - with horses roaming freely. The little valley can be completely yours for the day - and is especially good if you’re after a wedding meets festival vibe. The glamping-style tepees mean your guests can lay their weary heads after a night of dancing and fully take in the stunning natural landscape in the morning.
From the magic of the gardens to the avant-garde historic interiors, Hopewood House is the epitome of over-achievers. With 11-acre gardens, sculptures, art, antiques and history you’re bound to have your fairytale moment over, and over again. Hopewood House was established in 1884 and guests will feel as if they’ve stepped back in time to the roaring 20s and landed at one of Jay Gatsby’s famous soirees.
Wearing its old heritage with pride, Wallalong House sits elevated atop a small hill with beautiful views of low-lying paddocks 10 mins from Morpeth in the Hunter Valley region. Built-in 1830, the venue boasts wooden daybeds, French iron chairs and tables sprinkled on the lawns, 200-year-old fig trees, an-in ground pool (that calls for mimosas with your bridal party the morning of), and a sprawling Indian tent where the festivities take place. The splendid mix of Victorian and Georgian architecture makes it a dreamy location you’d be happy to honeymoon after the celebrations are done.
We’ll forgive you if you thought Dunes was in Byron Bay. It just has that vibe you know? The idyllic seaside restaurant that doubles as a wedding venue boasts a white-washed deck, linen-clad interiors, and coastal greens that create a laid-back and breezy vibe. Start with a ceremony on Station Beach followed by cocktails in the courtyard before a night of dancing - shoes are totally optional. With an Aperol spritz in hand and a Palm Beach sunset, there’s no better way to say “I do”.
